Raymont tried out for his black belt tonight. Unfortunately no spectators were allowed so we weren't able to capture any pictures or video of it. When we got to the studio to pick him up they weren't done yet so we watched Raymont from the car. It seemed like he did good. It's a great accomplishment to have gotten this far. Raymont had to get passport pictures taken, he wrote an essay as to how Tae Kwon Do shaped his life and we had to provide his birth certificate along with a hefty $400 fee for the test. Once the test is done, they send everything over to Korea (Giant TKD is part of the World Tae Kwon Do Federation) for them to evaluate and see if he passed. It will take about 2-3 months for his black belt to arrive.
Raymont's been in TKD for about four years now. I know he was nervous getting to this point but from where we watched I think he did an amazing job and we are so very proud of him!
Raymont started summer break on Wednesday! Yeah he passed and is now heading to the 5th grade! Where did all that time go? Raymont knows though it's not all fun and games for summer break. We have some 5th grade activites that we are going to start him on so once he goes back to school he'll be familiar with the assignments. We're going to start on Monday that is if Kathryn hasn't arrived yet.
