Lincoln City, Oregon

Today we headed down to Lincoln City, Oregon. This is about a five hour trip from Renton. We always take a few days to a week each year to go to Lincoln City. It's our own family vacation. And it's good to get away from Seattle and work. There is something about being by the ocean that makes you just relax and lazy. Raymont wasn't feeling good last night and ended up waking up at 3:45am with a fever. At that point it was hard for us to go back to sleep so we got our last minute packing in and checked the house a few times. Got Raymont bundled up and left around 4:55am. It was our plan already to leave this early so we can avoid traffic. We are spending this weekend with mom and dad. We caught up to them on the freeway somewhere in Chehalis. They followed us to Elmer's restaurant which is in Tigard, Oregon. From this point we still have a good 2-3 hours before we reach the coast. So we had breakfast here. This is the restaurant where Steve, Raymont and I always go to each time we head to the coast. Mom brought along a bag of newborn clothes that her co-worker gave her that have never been used. That was really nice of her and the clothes are just too cute! I can't wait to put them on the baby.

It was spitting snow once we got on the road. It didn't stick and it was on and off. It was cold this morning. We got to Lincoln City around 10:30am. When you get closer to the coast the warmer it gets. When we arrived it was in the mid 40's. When we got to the motel, our rooms were not ready yet as checkout is noon. We always stay at this motel everytime we come here. It has a refrigerator, a stove, two beds and a sofa/futon. This is perfect because we can cook here or go out to eat. Not only that the rooms overlook the ocean. It's so peaceful. Here is a view from our room:

Since the rooms weren't ready yet we drove to Depot Bay and had lunch. It wasn't so great for Raymont as his fever came back and had a headache. So after lunch we went back to the motel and luckily our room was ready. Raymont was able to lay in bed and watch tv.

Mom and I headed to the outlet mall. I was hoping that they would have a maternity store but they didn't. But I did leave with lots of cute baby clothes. The stores had massive sales. You wouldn't have known that there is a recession as the stores were packed with people. But I was very pleased with the newborn/baby clothes we got. And for such a good deal too, it was a good time for us to go.

We spent Valentines evening at this Italian restaurant called Avanti which is only a few blocks away from the motel. This was our first time going to this restaurant. They had good food there.

Well we're pretty tired obviously since we had to wake up early to get here.
